The car was acquired by the seller in 2021 from its longterm previous owner, and subsequent work included repainting the hood and trunk lid as well as recharging the air conditioning system. This E9 coupe is offered with blue California license plates and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in metallic blue and features chrome bumpers and side moldings, front bumper overriders, and fender vents. The hood and trunk lid were repainted in 2021 to alleviate dents according to the seller. The trunk indicator switch does not operate

Painted 14″ alloy wheels wear chrome hubcaps. Bilstein shocks are said to have been installed in the mid-1990s along with later-style disc brakes.

The cabin is trimmed in tan leather with matching door panels, darker carpets, and wood dash accents. Amenities include power-operated front and rear windows, a BMW-branded wood shift knob, and an air conditioning system that is said to have been recharged with R12 refrigerant. The clock and radio are inoperable, though the CD player is said to function as intended.

An aftermarket wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a 150-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 14k miles, approximately 200 of which have been added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown. Additional VDO gauges are mounted in a wood panel on the center dash. A stock turn signal switch was reportedly installed in February 2022.

The replacement 3.3-liter straight-six is said to date from 1981 and to have been fitted with a late-1970s fuel injection system. An oil change was performed in summer 2021.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery below. The car wears a 1990s Vehicle Information Label from the California Bureau of Automotive Repair.
